The Shay is a French Provincial cottage with a king bed, a deluxe soaking tub and an indoor fireplace. Cook in the kitchenette with produce from the region, then sit out by the fire pit under the stars.

Light the fireplace on cool nights, or gather around the fire pit with a glass of local wine. Firewood for the fire pit is provided for one night of your stay, and for the fireplace from April to October.

From your private deck, watch the cattle graze and the horses roam in the early morning mist. Say hello to the friendly sheep, then pour a glass as the sun goes down over the valley.

No wifi and patchy phone reception, so it is a true digital detox. No smoking, and not suitable for pets.

Is there wifi at The Shay?
No. The cottage is a chance for a digital detox. Because of the remote location there is no wifi, and phone reception can be intermittent.
Can I bring my dog?
No. Country Mile Escape is a working cattle farm, so the cottages are not suitable for pets.
What is in the kitchen?
The Shay is self-catering. The kitchenette has a two-burner gas stove, a microwave and a dishwasher, and there is a BBQ outside. There is no oven.
Is firewood provided?
Yes. Firewood, kindling and starters for the fire pit are provided for one night of your stay, all year round. Firewood for the indoor fireplace is provided from the start of April to the end of October.
How far is The Shay from Brisbane?
About 1 hour 20 minutes by car. The Shay is in the Flying Fox Valley, 15 minutes from Canungra in the Scenic Rim.
