My Favourite Canungra Shop

My favourite shop in Canungra can be found on Christie Street and is called My Country Escape. What is there not to love about this place; as you enter the shop, we will be greeted by beautiful smells, stunning homewares, boutique fashions, and endless gift ideas, with all that country feel. It is always a delight to visit My Country Escape, as Michelle or one of the staff members will greet you with warmth and welcome you into the shop.

Michelle Roper-Dennis, the owner, bought the business in 2015 after falling in love with the 1957 building. Michelle started the business with just herself working seven days a week and a friend giving her a day off here and there. With locals and visiting tourists discovering her shop, the business grew rapidly until today and she now has nine staff members.

In mid-January 2021, Michelle closed her doors for three months to refurbish her shop which revealed some of the history of the building. It was worth the wait, being able to feature the stunning timber rafters, giving the shop that sophisticated country charm in keeping with the character of one of Canungra’s oldest shop fronts.

Sam from Lydia’s Garden is the local florist who compliments My Country Escape, by giving the shop that magical warmth of greenery to the shop. Sam is your go-to girl for providing the township and visitors to the area with her fresh boutiques of flowers and plants.

You can’t miss, My Country Escape on Christie Street (main street) with its glass shop front beautifully displayed with boutique stunning clothing and homewares.
